NetBox Data Provider

Description

The NetBox Data Provider connects NetBox and Matrix42 in both directions. The import brings computers and network devices, including manufacturers and SKUs, from NetBox into Matrix42 asset management. Role mapping defines which NetBox roles are created as which asset type.

The export transfers regions, sites, locations, device types and assets from Matrix42 to NetBox. Which objects and fields are transferred is configured entirely in Matrix42 – without any code changes. Both directions run on a schedule, so asset management and network documentation stay consistent.

Core Features

1. Automated import from NetBox: Computers and network devices, including manufacturers and SKUs, are created and updated in Matrix42 – with serial number, IP address and location.
2. Role mapping: NetBox roles are imported into Matrix42 and assigned to the matching asset types. Only devices with a configured role are imported.
3. Export to NetBox: Regions, sites, locations, device types and assets are created and updated in NetBox from Matrix42. References between the objects are resolved automatically.
4. Freely configurable mappings: Data source, filter, field and status mapping are defined per object type in Matrix42. For each field you decide whether the value is written on every run or only when the object is created.
5. Safe adoption of existing data: Existing NetBox objects are linked to Matrix42 once instead of being duplicated. A simulation run shows all changes before anything is saved; objects no longer delivered are only reported, never deleted.
6. Scheduled synchronization: Import and export run via the engine activations supplied with the extension. Status, result and log of the last export are shown directly in the configuration.
