Description

With this feature, you can efficiently manage certificates directly within Matrix42, linking them to specific computers and users for better organization and tracking. The system allows you to associate each certificate with the appropriate assets and personnel, providing a comprehensive view of your certificate landscape. In addition, you’ll receive automatic notifications when a certificate is nearing its expiration date, ensuring that you never miss a renewal.

Scope of the extension

After installing the certificate management, a new navigation object will be available in the “Assets” application.

The extension also contains its own dialogs, quick views, actions, data definitions, configuration elements, data lists and data sources. Furthermore, journal entry types, compliance rules and workflows as well as a module activation that checks daily whether tasks are generated have been added.

Adding a certificate

The “Add certificate” action opens a dialog:

In the “General” tab, the essential information about the certificate must be entered, such as title, licensor, validity and certificate type. The assigned Responsible is also defined as the contact person in the created task and notified when the certificate is about to expire. To ensure that the task is created on time, a certain number of days before the certificate expires must be specified.

Various options are available for the certificate type. User-defined values can be added in the “SPSAssetPickupType” pickup under “Administration - Schema - Data definitions”.

The specified number of days before the certificate expires results in a task being created that is linked to the certificate. Once this task has been created, the status of the certificate changes to “Renewal pending”.

Extending a certificate

The “Renew certificate” action opens a wizard in which you can specify whether the certificate should be renewed or not. Depending on your selection, the status of the certificate is either set to “Active” or “Not renewed”. This action is also documented by means of journal entries on the certificate.
